Adventures Of Jax And Jane – The Curious Case Of The Missing Panda

Team StoryWeavers|July 06, 2021, 13:08 IST| 11

It is a bright and sunny day in Jollydale. The curious sibling duo – Jax and Jane – are cosily nestled in their treehouse. “I need an adventure!” hummed Jane as she looked through ‘Jollydale Today’.

“I don’t mind one either,” said Jax immediately. “Wait… Whatttt? An adventure??? I thought you said hamburger!” added Jax.

Right then, their world map lit up. The world of Animalia needed help!

“Quick, Jax! Grab Whizzing Hat,” Jane called out, referring to their magical hat. And lo! The next moment, the treehouse stood empty.

Thud! Thud! They tumbled into Animalia, the world of talking animals!

“Look! There’s Detective Z,” spotted Jax picking himself from the ground.

“Yes! But why does he look so worried?” asked Jane, dusting herself clean.

They hurried over to Detective Z, the resident Sherlock Holmes of Animalia. “Where is he? Where did he go?” he mumbled and scribbled away in his little notepad… till he saw Jax and Jane running towards him.

“Goodness! So glad to see you two again! Thank you for coming.”

“Good to see you too, Detective Z. What happened?” questioned Jax and Jane in unison.

“We have a missing person in Animalia,” said Z gravely.

“Who’s that?”

“Mr GP, our town’s black and white bear. He’s my best friend. We had planned for a picnic in the bamboo forest, but he never showed up!

Picnic to the bamboo forest?

Righto! He loves spending time eating bamboo and sleeping for long hours!

Why don’t we ask his family about his whereabouts?

Unfortunately, he has none now. He is threatened by the world too,” sniffled Detective Z, worriedly.

Oh no! We should find him real quick!

The search began. The trio went up the hill and down together. They searched high and low, went in and out of the town. They knocked on all doors and peered through some windows. They looked on the rooftops and deep underground. But…GP was nowhere to be found.

Alas! They went through the woods towards the lake. “GP…can you hear us? Where are you? GP?”

Splash! “Aaaaahhhhhh!!!”

Jane and Detective Z ran towards Jax.

“What happened, Jax?” asked Jane and Z.

“I fell into the water. But look at the water! There’s something in it. I can’t touch it… but it is there.”

Jane and Detective Z looked at each other and then into the lake. Jax was indeed right, they could see a black and white reflection.

“Hmmm… Detective Z, can Mr GP  swim and climb trees?” Jane asked with excitement shining in her eyes.

“Yes, he’s excellent at both…But why?” replied Z.

“We found Mr GP!!!”

“Really??? Where Is He??”

He’s up there! Mr GP had swum in the lake and climbed up that tree! Look at him sleeping!” pointed Jane.

“THAT’S HIM! THAT’S HIM!!  Except you never said how big he is!” said Jax in awe.

“Well Jax, that’s why he’s called the Giant Panda…GP for short.” laughed Z at Jax’s reaction.

“Well congratulations, Detective Z, for successfully solving the case of missing Mr Giant Panda!” grinned Jax.

“Yes, quite an adventure that I need to record at the earliest!” said a thrilled Jane.

“Thank you, Jane and Jax! I wouldn’t have been able to find him without your help. I shall keep a watch on him and wait for him to wake up. You two, head back home.”

“Take care, Detective Z! Say hello to Mr GP when he wakes up,” said Jane. “Jax, where’s the hat? Let’s go!”

“Tata Z…” Swooooshh! Jax was back in the treehouse before he could finish bidding farewell to Detective Z.  Jane giggled at Jax’s reaction.

“Well, little brother, hop along and grab yourself a snack. I’m going to write about the adventure of missing Giant Panda now.”

“Gladly, sister! I need my hamburger now,” sauntered off Jax.

Jane curled up again in their treehouse, her diary and pen laid ready. “Where do I start?” she asked herself as she began to pen their little adventure about missing Giant Panda.
