Arjav Jain Shares 5 Commandments Every Product Manager Should Live By

What role does a Product Manager play in bringing a learning product to life? What are some of the key skills that a Product Manager needs to hone to lead the product vision and idea to fruition? And, finally, how do the responsibilities associated with this role impact the larger work culture at BYJU’S?

We explored some of these questions during a recent catch-up with Arjav Jain, Senior Product Manager at BYJU’S. The techie, with 6 years of experience in the field and a deep interest in the PM community, shared valuable insights while taking us on a walk down the memory lane and sharing the story of his first tryst with computers.

Falling in love with tech

A Computer Science graduate, with a Masters degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Arjav’s journey in tech began quite early. And it all started with his grandfather bringing home a computer! He recalls, “I remember playing around with Microsoft Paint, Roadrash and Midtown Madness. And that’s how I fell in love with technology.”

With time, though, this love for technology evolved. And as one thing led to another, Arjav found himself landing the Senior Product Manager’s position in BYJU’S. A role, which he says is dynamic and that requires him to interact with various stakeholders across teams and levels within the organisation. 

“I speak with Engineering, Design, User Research, Marketing, Sales and pretty much everyone in the company to make sure that the best and the most lovable product is out there for our users,” Arjav quips.

The techie, besides being vested in the ideation and development of BYJU’S learning products, is also deeply involved with the product management community. He says it’s an integral part of his learning and helps him bring a fresh perspective to his work and the culture of creation at BYJU’S.
