Great inventions don’t happen overnight. They are made possible by enterprising people with innovative ideas. At BYJU’S, this translates into a culture of diversity and infusion, with people from different backgrounds and varied skills coming together to revolutionise the learning experience for students.

People Who Make BYJU’S – our brand new series on employee stories – spotlights these people and captures their stories of learning and growing with BYJU’S.

“Stay focused on your responsibilities, help your peers, express gratitude, communicate, and stay healthy,” says Soumyadipta Roy, sharing some insider tips and tricks for people aspiring a career in arts and animations.

A Senior Associate in the Art Department at BYJU’S, Soumyadipta – better known as Roy amongst his colleagues and teammates – oversees the art that goes into the making of engaging and lively learning experiences for students. His job entails reviewing the artwork and ensuring that the creative approach meets the requirements of the content and the script.

As he explains, “There is the educational material, the subject, and then there is a way of presenting it in a graphical manner so that when children watch the BYJU’S videos, they are appealed by the graphics and they also understand the subject material.”

But there is a lot that goes on behind the creative exploration. Roy, who has dabbled in the VFX industry – he has worked on some of the biggest Hollywood titles, including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, Disney’s John Carter, X-Men: The Last Stand, World War Z, and with the legendary comic book writer Stan Lee – understands the power of art and animation. And how it can make a subject engaging, lively, and fun to learn.

In this instalment of People Who Make BYJU’S, Roy shares a sneak peek into his day-to-day life at BYJU’S, the team camaraderie, and how the infectious energy of his team inspires him to keep creating wonders with art. Even in times when we are all connecting and collaborating remotely!
